Some of the best missions are unplanned. Watch Swiss alpinists Stephan Siegrist, Jonas Schild and Andy Schnarf turn the tables opening a new line in the Garhwal Himalayas of India.

Things don’t always go to plan in the mountains. True freedom is found in the ability to pivot and adjust. It’s that adaptability that sometimes delivers the best adventures. In Oct. 2022, on the back of a long monsoon season and unseasonal amounts of snow, Siegrist, Schild and Schnarf waited, condemned to their base camp in the Garhwal Himalayas. The trio realized they were facing the task of finding an alternative project. Sprawling from the edge of the Kirti glacier and perched below the imposing south face of Shivling, a wall caught their eye. With remarkable resemblance to The Nose on El Capitan, the climbers dubbed the face Kirti-Nose. In our latest film, watch the trio tackle the little-known wall and open Between two Parties (7b A3; 350m).Â
“An expedition like this, regardless of whether you climb the objective or not, consists mainly of many funny, unforeseen situations.”
- Jonas Schild
